Marcus Aitken

Recently named as Saatchi Arts top 20 emerging artists to watch in 2020, Marcus is a contemporary artist and painter from South London who uses a combination of layering, distressing and blending to present a multifaceted surface to his work.

Having shown in both solo and group exhibitions internationally, he has a background in design and developed his artistic style creating cutting edge abstract works with vibrant and exciting sculptural elements.

Will Rochfort

Taking inspiration from 20th century artists and the golden age of Hollywood, Will Rochfort has developed his own unique style of narrative painting.

"My paintings are snapshots of moments in time, often idealised and always entirely staged using my friends and family as models. My focus is on the figure and the story, colour and composition and always seeing the paint at work when you get close"

As his reputation continues to grow, Will Rochfort is now represented in the UK and the USA and is fast becoming one of the most sought after figurative artists working today.

Ruth grew up in Hertfordshire before moving to London for 15 years, where she started her artist practice 5 years ago.

Now based in Margate, Kent and working from her studio at home next to the beach.  Her 6 year meditation practice influences her ideas about how we experience and treat the body. She is also interested in brainwave states of alpha, theta and delta as a means to calming mind and body, and the body in 'flow state.'

"I explore how we see and experience the body, often second to, and at the service of the mind. ‘

kirstie Adamson.gif

Kirstie Adamson

Like Ian Kirstie has a great interest in finding ways of using waste materials in her artwork. Her skill is with magazine and old direct mail printed material collaged to make her art. Ever since 1994 she has been using technique, ever since she was asked to collage a still life using newspapers.

While she has worked with other materials, likeI turning her attention to reclaimed metal during her degree in Applied Arts at the University of Derby, graduating in 2000. She experimented with a variety of materials following this but in 2007she decided to specialise in magazine collage.

‘I don't use any imagery from the magazines but I use the colours and textures that I find as an alternative to paint. It is intentional that when viewing my work that the method used is not instantly obvious. At first glance it is often assumed that I have used paint and only on closer inspection does it become apparent that the piece consists entirely of ripped and cut magazines’.

Barbara Shaw

Barbara Shaw

Barbara creates art using textiles - layering many carefully selected scraps of fabric and hand-stitching them together to create unique collage pictures. Patterned and tactile materials in vibrant or subtle colours are useful as well as chiffon ribbons for shading, sparkly fabric for light, lace for intricate detail and tweed for texture.

Her style is impressionistic and she’s constantly experimenting to stretch the range of subjects which I tackle in order to engage the viewer in looking afresh at familiar images.

She has been Artist-in-Residence at two National Trust properties (Chastleton House, Oxfordshire and Claydon House, Buckinghamshire) and her work has been exhibited in the Oxford Museum of Natural History, Corinium Museum Cirencester and Buckinghamshire County Museum, Aylesbury and in the Houses of  Parliament; Barbara’’s work is in the collection in the Oxfordshire County Museum and the Buckinghamshire County Museum.

Béatrice Beraud care workers

Béatrice Beraud

Béatrice Beraud is a french textile artist living in Paris. She works with embroidery on fabric, photography, paper and canvas A lot of her inspiration comes from her relation with my son and our discussions.

Everyday life, global events also resonate in her creation. She discovered embroidery 5 years ago after creating with crochet to make a hat, now embroidery is a means of expression for her that compensates for her inability to draw without a model.

When she was at school, the art teacher designated the place at the back of the class because she didn't know how to draw. It's a good revenge! Recently named by the Saatchi Gallery in top 10 artists in embroidery.

Holly Brown

Clockworks Press was founded in 2016 by Brooklyn-based artist and printmaker Holly E. Brown. Holly’s hand carved collagraph prints are inspired by architecture, and balance the rhythm between the rawness of reality and the abstract. Using a reductive approach to printmaking she juxtaposes a positive and negative environment where space, form, and perspective are carefully interwoven.

Holly has a passion for sustainability and prints on upcycled denim using pigments derived from textile waste.

Duncan osborne I clap for clap for carers

Duncan Osborne

Duncan Osborne's career as a professional artist has spanned over 40 years. He studied at Manchester Art college in the 70's and has worked as a Designer/Illustrator.

The technique that Duncan specialises in is pointillism. Drawing thousands of dots in ink allows the flexibility to create intricate surfaces and textures in a variety of subtle tones, which would normally only be possible by using pencil or paint. By varying tonal values he creates a sculptured three dimensional presence to his subjects.

His art is figurative and has been influenced by artists such as Escher, David Shepherd, Atkinson Grimshaw and admires the pointillist work of Pissarro.
